A completely natural and gentle deodorant for sensitive souls and sensitive skin. My quest to create a natural deodorant that didn't dry out my skin and cause itchy red bumps lasted several years. I finally reached Valhalla by creating a deodorant using zinc oxide, sage extract, and a combo of antibacterial essential oils that smell delicious, while preventing the body odor from developing. This deo smells delightfully fresh, is crazy long lasting when applied, and keeps armpits happy & healthy. Out of all the products I have made, I am truly most proud of this recipe.

The Science 🧪

When you sweat, the sweat itself doesn’t really smell—it’s mostly water with a little salt. The bad smell happens when tiny bacteria on your skin break down parts of the sweat, like natural oils and proteins. This makes smelly chemicals such as fatty acids (which can smell sour) and sulfur compounds called thioalcohols (which smell sharp, like onions or garlic). Zinc oxide helps fight body odor in two ways: it stops many of these bacteria from growing, and it react with the sulfur compounds so they turn into forms that don’t smell. That means zinc oxide doesn’t just cover up odor—it actually keeps the stink from forming in the first place.

Rich, creamy, and smooth to spread.

This deo is scented with a deliciously fresh, lemony and herbaceous blend of essential oils that smell like a fragrant summer bouquet of lemons and herbs. All of the essential oils inside are antibacterial, which make them useful for preventing unpleasant body odors.

For all ages and genders. Suitable for shaved and unshaved armpits, alike.

Sage extract adds to the deodorant in several ways. It contains compounds like thujone and rosmarinic acid that slow down the growth of bacteria on your skin, which are the main cause of body odor because they break down sweat into smelly chemicals. Sage also has a mild astringent effect, which can slightly reduce sweat production and help keep you feeling fresh. On top of that, it’s gentle on the skin and adds a pleasant herbal scent, making deodorant both effective and soothing.

Baking Soda is also a useful ingredient, but in tiny amounts. I use the teeniest tiny bit in my recipe, but not much, because it can be very rough on the skin, and I am personally very sensitive to it. Why baking soda works for deo? Bacteria that cause body odor like to live in a slightly acidic environment on the skin. When they break down sweat, they release acids and other smelly compounds that make sweat stink. Baking soda works in deodorant by changing that environment. Because it is alkaline, it raises the skin’s pH, making it less acidic and less comfortable for bacteria to grow. With fewer bacteria around, there are fewer odor-causing reactions happening, which helps keep the skin smelling fresh. But here’s the catch: baking soda is pretty rough on skin because it can change the skin’s natural balance too much. That’s why some people get redness, dryness, or rashes when they use deodorants with a lot of baking soda.

Cold-pressed shea butter (Butyrospermum Parkii Butter), zinc oxide, watermelon seed oil (Citrullus Lanatus Seed Oil), Sodium Caproyl/Lauroyl Lactylate (derived from coconut oil), Triethyl Citrate (derived from citric acid) , lemon (Citrus Limon Peel Oil), litsea cubeba fruit oil, Tea tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia Oil), lavender (Lavandula Hybrida Grosso Herb Oil), eucalyptus globulus leaf oil, rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil), geranium (Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil), sage extract (Salvia Officinalis Oil), baking soda (sodium bicarbonate). *From essential oils: Limonene, Pinene, Citral, Linalool, Citronellol, Linalyl Acetate, Geraniol, Beta-Caryophyllene, Camphor, Alpha-Terpinene, Terpineol, Terpinolene.

A natural deodorant that actually works!
S'all I'm gonna say. <3

Natural stuff
The smell of the deodorant is amazing - I love its essence. The formula still allows for my body to breathe and sweat, especially when I workout, but the volume of my sweat is reduced and my armpits smell good throughout the whole day. Very natural!

natural deodorant
I love everything Lucy creates but this deodorant is by far my favourite of her creations. The 30 Ml lasted me for 10 months, the ingredients perfectly neutralise body odor and even with an active lifestyle you don't even have to reapply it throughout the day.

My favourite deodorant!
First of all, I love how practical the packaging is, you can simply toss it in your bag and take it with you everywhere. It works just as well as deodorants that contain far fewer natural ingredients, so for me it’s definitely an everyday staple. Plus, it has a super pleasant, unisex scent, what not to love?

Water in creams is a scam. Sorry.

Although water-based creams may feel light and refreshing on the skin momentarily, there are a few ingredients in every water-based cream that need to be there for the cream to stay together and not go bad, but are actually really harmful for the skin.
