About Liturgy

SIMPLE, HIGHLY POTENT & 100% NATURAL SKINCARE

The modern skincare industry thrives on the idea that more is better—layering multiple products, complicated 10-step routines, and an ever-growing list of “must-have” ingredients. But in reality, skin is designed to be self-sufficient. It has its own barrier, microbiome, and natural oils that help maintain balance.

Overloading the skin with too many products (especially harsh exfoliants, preservatives, and emulsifiers) can disrupt this balance, leading to the very issues we’re are trying to fix—breakouts, dryness, or even hormonal disruptions. Liturgy is for people who want fewer products with time-tested, safe, pronounceable ingredients, and are *free from chemicals, preservatives, and other shady s#t.

MADE FOR MEN & WOMEN

A well-formulated moisturizer or serum will work for any skin, regardless of gender. All Liturgy products are made with natural, plant-sourced botanicals, butters & oils. We use only pure essential oils, not synthetic fragrances, and stay away from gender-specific product or aroma marketing.

The scents found in nature don’t fit into rigid categories. The earth after rain, aged cedarwood, crushed leaves, sun-warmed citrus—these smells aren’t masculine or feminine; they simply exist. Liturgy scents take you to that place—because they come from nature itself.

But essential oils do more than just smell good—they carry beneficial plant compounds that support the skin, helping to maintain a healthy skin microbiome.

NOTE FROM CREATOR:

Hi there, My name is Lucy, welcome to my shop! Everything you'll find on this website is completely natural and handmade by me, either in my kitchen or in my workshop in Slovenia. How did it it all start, you may wonder? Well let me take you back.....

I started making my own skincare & home supplies when I moved from NYC to Slovenia, and suddenly found myself with much more spare time than I had ever had before in my life. During this time I started learning how make things that I would otherwise want to buy, just for myself and my husband to start. From the beginning I knew I wanted to use only completely natural ingredients, because I wanted to be healthy, plus I learned quickly that I much prefer the smells of natural essential oils rather than strong perfume-y fragrances.

It actually wasn’t until I began learning more about skincare, and the ingredients that are in all of these “normal” products we use in our daily lives, that I realized how many unhealthy ingredients are used in the products that we put on our bodies and use in our homes everyday. While some of these ingredients may be considered safe in small doses, what about the effects of many small doses over time?

After a ton of learning and researching, I began to realize how the skincare industry functions on getting people to use as many of their products as possible, at almost any cost. They feed on our insecurities, try to sell us as many products as possible, each one highlighting one benefit or vitamin per product (usually synthetic strains of vitamins that exist in nature), so that we think we need to to layer on 5+ products morning and night to get the desired results. Meanwhile, after some time our skin begins to rely on these products, loses its ability to take care of itself, and becomes damaged.

The truth is, skin doesn’t need a lot. Men have instinctively figured this out—they swear by that one “grandma all-purpose cream” and “a towel they found outside,” hehe. Jokes aside, what works has always worked: nutrient-rich and time-tested botanicals that support the skin’s natural functions. Fewer products, and more real ingredients.

Historically, skincare was much simpler—people relied on whole, plant-based ingredients like oils, butters, and herbal infusions. They focused on nourishment and protection rather than constant stripping and resurfacing.

I make skincare the old fashioned way. My products are gentle enough that they can be used for pretty much any part of the body, and are made from plant ingredients that are naturally loaded with vitamins, omega's, fatty acids, peptides, and more. When you use plant butters, oils, extracts, and essential oils, you're not only getting one synthetic stain of a highlighted nutrient in a product, your getting a whole package of nutrients that synergistically work together, feeding and protecting your skin.

My goal is to provide useful, luxurious goods for our bodies and living spaces that are made from ingredients we can feel comfortable about using, while trying to create as little waste as possible. And, to make drool-worthy, soul warming products that make this whole “being alive thing” just a liiittle bit better!

xoxo Lucy
